2017 Art Exhibition

Our Art Exhibition theme for 2017 is 'We are Elm Park.' We decided to look at the flowers we could see around our school.

Room 4 practiced sketching the flowers before we decided to make them using paper. We looked at our sketches to see how many petals our flowers had. We all made two flowers that were the same that we had seen around the school; a daisy and a daffodil. The other flowers were chosen by us.

We made vases out of paper and cut out little designs.

Using onomatopoeia in Reading

We have been Reading with Miss Lee this term. 

Our learning has been based around fireworks because it was Guy Fawkes day. 

We made a sentence about our fireworks too.

All About Shapes

This term Room 4 has been learning about Shapes. We have been looking around our school for different shapes that we can find (we found lots on the playground!) 

After we found the shapes, we looked at the qualities of each shape, like how many sides they had.

Miss Donnell took us outside and we drew some of the shapes we had seen around our school. In the middle we wrote how many sides they had.

Getting Ready for Writing

I am an awesome writer!

*I can get the tools I need for writing e.g. book, word cards, pencil.

*I can write the date by myself.

*I can start writing in the correct direction.

*I can use some words from my blue and yellow words cards. 

Re-reading my story

We are learning to re-read to check what I read makes sense.

We are learning to know groupings within 5.

Celebrating Chinese New Year!

For our Inquiry, we are learning about Celebrations.

We have been learning about Chinese New Year. We know some of the food they get to eat during Chinese New Year, and the special things they get to do. Some cities have awesome parades with big dragons. We decided to 
make our own Chinese New Year drums. We painted our drums red and yellow, and Miss Donnell helped us to attach the bells. We think they are awesome!!

We are learning to find patterns to 5.

Our Awesome Planter Box!

We are learning about responsibility for our own areas at Elm Park School.

This term Room 4 have planted some flowers in our planter box. Mr Walker fixed the bottom
of the planter box for us first. We had a brainstorm about what sort of plants we wanted in
our box. We decided on bright colourful flowers that lots of people would like to look at. We
had lots of fun planting our flowers.

We are learning to match our picture to our story.

Lauren: I can put numbers in the right order. 6 and 9 are hard.

Lauren: Finger spaces are easy. Miss Donnell likes my words when I use finger spaces.

We are learning to pick up a dive ring from the bottom of the pool.

Lauren: I can do a dive underwater. I can pick up a ring too.
